Federal Housing Authority, Monday 26th October, 2026, conducted a financial bid opening exercise at the Authority’s Headquarters in Abuja for proposed housing development projects along 371 Road, Gwarinpa Estate, as part of its procurement process for the selection of contractors to execute the projects.

Speaking during the exercise, the Acting General Manager, Procurement and General Duties, Quantity Surveyor Umar Jibril, noted that the projects comprise of 60 housing units, including one-bedroom flat, two-bedroom flats, and three-bedroom flats, as well as 3-bedroom triplex units with boys’ quarters.

QS. Jibril also noted that the procurement process commenced in August 2026 with the jobs being advertised in two national dailies and the Federal Tender Journal.

He said that following the technical evaluation of 57 submissions, 29 responsive bidders were shortlisted to proceed to the financial bidding stage.

According to him, “We advertised the projects in two national dailies and Federal Tender Journal. Bidders were given two weeks to submit their expressions of interest. We received 57 submissions, which we subsequently evaluated at the technical stage. At the end of the evaluation, 29 bidders were found to be responsive and qualified to proceed to the financial bidding stage.”

The Ag.GM further said that the financial bids would undergo evaluations to identify nine successful contractors, that is eight building contractors and one external works contractor. He also said the selected bidders will subsequently be recommended to the appropriate Tenders Board for consideration and contract award.

In his words. “We will evaluate the financial bids and select nine contractors: eight building contractors and one external works contractor who will handle soil stabilisation, retaining walls, and landscaping. We have 29 bidders participating in this stage. Following the evaluation of their financial bids, the nine successful bidders will be recommended to the appropriate Tenders Board for consideration and contract award.”

QS. Jibril appreciated the Managing Director/Chief Executive, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, for providing the necessary support to facilitate the process. He also described the exercise as successful and urged participating contractors to remain patient, assuring them that the evaluation would be guided by transparency and the submissions made by the bidders.

One of the observers at the exercise, Chukwu Blessing, a representative of the non-governmental organisation (NGO), Smile Charity Foundation, commended the Authority for a well-organised exercise. She described the process as transparent, fair and accountable.

According to her, “It was transparent, it was fair, and accountable, because everything went according to the procurement act of 2007. Everybody witnessed it, both the bidders and all the stakeholders present was satisfied with the exercise”

The exercise underscores FHA’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the procurement of housing development projects.
