STAFF RETREAT: FHA TARGETS MASSIVE HOUSING CONSTRUCTION
In a bid to consolidate the gains recorded from its positive reforms, the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) organized a three-day Staff Retreat themed “Consolidating on the Gains of Positive Reforms.” The retreat was held at the Ikogosi Resort and Conference Centre, Ekiti State.

The retreat was designed to sustain the momentum of the ongoing reforms within the Authority, which have repositioned FHA as one of the performing organizations in Nigeria. It provided a strategic platform for staff and management to review progress made so far and strengthen commitment towards improved efficiency, accountability, and service delivery.
In his opening address, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, encouraged staff to continue working diligently for the progress of the Authority. He applauded the tenacity and zeal demonstrated by staff in imbibing the changes introduced by his administration, noting that it is only through sustained hard work that FHA would continue to grow.

Hon. Ojo reiterated his administration’s commitment to staff welfare, which he noted could only be sustained through continuous hard work. He further urged staff to remain patient, projecting that staff take-home allowances would be improved towards the end of the first quarter, provided the current momentum of hard work is maintained.
“By the end of First quarter of the year, we will increase staff allowance, that’s the reward for your hard work.”
The Managing Director also stated that the recent staff promotion exercise, which cleared the backlog of promotions within the Authority, was possible because the Authority was solvent and able to meet its financial obligations. He recalled the precarious situation of the Authority at the time his administration was appointed, adding that the situation had since been turned around through dedication and hard work.
He further stated that FHA, which once relied on government subventions to operate, has been able to stand on its feet despite being out of appropriation. According to him, through improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), the Authority has grown into a contributor to the Federation Account.
Hon. Ojo declared that 2026 would be a year of massive housing construction, beginning with the commissioning of FHA Housing Estate in Bwari, Abuja, within the first quarter of the year.
“We are in the year of construction delivery to Nigerians. First quarter towards the beginning of second quarter, we must commission FHA Housing Estate in Bwari. We must face the core mandate that Federal housing Authority is known for, which is housing delivery.”
In their remarks, the Executive Directors of Estate Management Services, Projects Implementation, and Housing Finance and Accounts unanimously commended the leadership style of the Managing Director, describing it as multilateral and inclusive. They noted that this approach had strengthened teamwork within the Authority. They also applauded members of staff for being receptive to the reforms introduced by Management.

The retreat convened participants from the Authority and her subsidiaries, including FHA Mortgage Bank Ltd and FHA Energy Development Company Ltd. The retreat featured seasoned resource persons from diverse professional fields, among them Prof. Adetunji Oso (SAN), Prof. Josiah Oladele Babalola, Gbadegesin Omotayo Gbede, and Prof. Felix Kayode Omole.
The facilitators delivered presentations across eight (8) critical thematic areas relevant to the Authority’s operations. These areas included contracts, land documentation, dispute prevention, and housing laws; quality assurance, maintenance culture, the use of durable materials, and climate-resilient infrastructure; as well as branding, customer trust, digital marketing, and public perception, among others.
