• Rivers State will partner with the Federal Housing Authority in the provision of affordable housing for the people of the state. Governor Nyesom Wike, who made who made this known in Port Harcourt, said such partnership would involve allocating land to FHA to enable it commence immediate construction of houses.

    Speaking during a courtesy call on him by FHA’s Managing Director, Professor Mohammed Al-Amin at Government House, Port Harcourt, Wike directed the Management of the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority and the state's Ministry of Housing to liaise with the FHA to develop a framework for affordable housing delivery for consideration by the government.

    Nigeria (FMBN) to utilise land owned by the Authority acros the country for immediate housing delivery. He said Rivers was among the first set of states being considered for the take-off of the programme. He disclosed that the Authority's new approach was to see housing not just as shelter but as a critical index of development and appealed to the Governor to allocate more lands to the Authority both in the state capital and in the local government areas of the state.

    Al-Amin said FHA was poised to boost housing development in the state adding that local and foreign investors had indicated interest in joining the Authority to take advantage of the favourable investment climate in the state.
