The Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, has been honored with the Award of Excellence as a Supporter of Anti-Corruption. The prestigious accolade was presented on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, by the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN), the specialized training and research arm of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The presentation took place at the Authority's Board Room in Abuja.

Presenting the award, the Provost of the Academy, Dr. Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, conveyed the institutional greetings of the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu to Hon Ojo.   Dr. Ibrahim lauded Hon. Ojo’s administrative approach, describing him as an intellectually sound and principled administrator whose leadership has successfully aligned the FHA with the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and the National Ethics and Integrity Policy.

In his address, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo accepted the honor on behalf of the management and staff of the FHA, characterizing the recognition as an affirmation of a collective institutional commitment to transparency. He recalled that upon assuming his leadership role two years ago, the agency faced severe operational challenges, marked by underperformance and low staff morale despite possessing adequate resources and industry expertise.

"These conditions necessitated a definitive commitment to reposition the FHA toward optimal performance," Hon. Ojo stated. "We pledged to strengthen transparency, enforce strict accountability, and restore public trust in our operations. This award serves as validation that our systemic reforms and deliberate policy choices are yielding measurable reductions in anti-corruption incidents."

The Managing Director acknowledged that while the reform process encountered resistance from elements intent on maintaining the previous status quo, the administrative resolve remains unyielding. To ensure the permanence of these governance upgrades beyond the current administration, the FHA has prioritized process automation and the deployment of electronic platforms designed to minimize human discretion and enhance transaction traceability.

Hon. Ojo emphasized that the award is not viewed as a mark of absolute finality, but rather as an administrative mandate to sustain vigilance and fulfill President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to deliver affordable, transparently managed housing to Nigerian citizens.

The Academy Provost further noted that the FHA’s proactive willingness to partner with the ICPC and ACAN sets a benchmark for public sector governance. Moving forward, the regulatory bodies outlined a dual instrument strategy designed to eradicate corrupt practices across public institutions:

Incentivization: Implementing strict measures for shaming and prosecuting individuals found violating the Act of Corruption.

Motivation: Actively rewarding and supporting public officials who demonstrate exceptional integrity and drive systemic anti-corruption frameworks within their respective circles.

The event concluded with an agreement between the leadership of the FHA, ICPC, and ACAN to deepen inter-agency collaboration, fortify institutional accountability, and continuously safeguard public resources in alignment with national democratic values.
