FHA COMMISSIONS ESTATE IN AJODA, IBADAN.

Federal Housing Authority, Monday 21st July 2025 commissioned the phase of 100 housing units in its Estate in Ajoda, Ibadan , Oyo State.

Speaking at the event, the Authority’s Managing Director and Chief Executive,  Hon Oyetunde Ojo, said that commissioning was in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Federal Government led by president Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The MD stated that his team in FHA was given a clear mandate by the president  when they were appointed about 16 months ago, to work and provide affordable houses for Nigerians.

According to Hon Ojo, " he gave us a marching order to renew the hope of Nigerians by delivering affordable housing for all".

The FHA boss stated that the Estate on completion would have 1000, housing units of 2 and 3 bedroom bungalows. His management he noted met the project moribound and abandoned since 2018. He recalled that on his first visit to the site, he resolved that in about a year, his management would place roof over Nigerians in the estate.

In his words, " this place had been abandoned since 2018. We are here to correct what went wrong. This is just phase one, we still have 900 more units to deliver", he asserted.

Hon. Ojo expressed Management's satisfaction in target mostly Medical Doctors from the University College Ibadan,  who are major beneficiaries of this first phase. He pointed out the critical roles Doctors play in the life of the nation and expressed optimism that this effort of providing them with houses of their own, would checkmate brain drain  in the Medical sector.

Speaking further,  the MD said that subsequent phases of the project would target all segments of Nigerians, from the formal to the informal sector.  Those in the informal sector he pointed out only need to organize themselves, through the help of the traditional institution. He noted that the sector can boast of more resources at their disposal and stand to benefit more.

Hon. Ojo also stated that FHA would be building Studio apartments to carter for the young one who are starting life, and that the Estate is well secured. He called on the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria to sensetize Nigerians more on Mortgage opportunities.

The MD then called on Nigerians to commend Federal Housing Authority, for what it is doing despite not being in appropriation for many years. He noted that all what have been achieved has been through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), and reiterated his Management's resolve not to disappoint Mr. President.

Earlier in his welcome remarks,  the Authority’s Executive Director, Projects Implementation,  Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, announced that the Authority is getting set to commence the construction of similar affordable housing projects in 17 states. He also noted that FHA lined up many more projects for commissioning, noting that the next would be in Abuja.

In his own remarks,  the Managing Director of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Usman Osidi, noted that Nigerians can access mortgages facilities at 6% for a period of up to 30 years. " It is open to all Nigerians. Just walk into any of our branches and pick a form", he concluded.

Mr Ige Ayeni, of Green wood construction,  the developer, was full of gratitude to the President for the quality of management he gave to FHA. He was also grateful to the Managing Director, Hon. Ojo for his relentless effort to put back the project on track.

Oba Oladepo representing the Royal fathers and host community,  thanked the Federal government for the project.  He however called on the provision of more facilities and infrastructure to the community.

Prof. Adenipekun, representing the subscribers thanked the Authority for delivering the project. He however called for the extension and expansion of the programme to other professionals and health workers.

The highlight of the event was gifting of two  bedroom bungalows each on behalf of the President to Oba Akinsola Oladepo, Alajia of Ajia and  Onisade of Isade, Oba Saliu Oguntayo, and the handing over of keys to 13 Medical Doctors from the University College Ibadan who benefited from the project.
