Management Takes Fight Against Corruption to Southwest Zone

... As ICPC Sensitizes Lagos Staff.

In continuation of the fight against corruption, management Wednesday 22nd August 2024 organized sensitization exercise for the Lagos office staff by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC).

This development is coming after a similar event for the staff of head office, in Management's decision to reposition the Authority’s staff towards a positive work ethics.




Introducing the Lagos Zonal ICPC officers, Mr. Peter Aveyina and Emeka, the General Manager Servicom and Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) Mr. Asuquo Otong said the reason for the exercise is to impact a sense of positive work ethics, dedication in the staff, and curb all forms of corruption that impede the progress of organizations.

He re - echoed the Managing Director's charge to staff on hard work and dedication, which is the only way the Authority can grow for staff benefit.




During his address, Mr. Peter Aveyina informed staff that ICPC was statutorily set up to fight reported cases of corruption both in private and public sectors. Mr. Aveyina noted that the mandate of ICPC is basically set at the prevention of corruption and extends to enforcement and enlightenment, which under pins the intentions of this sensitization.

The ICPC resource person also noted that the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), which had been in existence since 2020, is an ACT of government empowered to tackle all cases of corruption in all government agencies.




Distributing the ICPC handbook of offenses and punishments to the staff, Mr Aveyina explained that the Anti-graft agency works with the police and other law enforcement agencies on their operations.

He admonished staff to shun all forms of corrupt practices and encouraged them to understand the content of the manual as a guide in the work spaces, stating that the overall essence of the agency's enlightenment campaign is to prevent corruption in the first instance.

In his vote of thanks, the South West Zonal Manager. Arc. Akintola Olagbemiro thanked the ICPC team for the programme and called on staff to avail of the opportunity to partner ICPC in the fight against corruption.
