FHA COMMISSIONS 1ST AVENUE AND 13 CRESCENT ROAD, APO/GUZAPE

-As MD/CE, HON OYETUNDE OJO PROMISES ENHANCING SECURITY OF THE ESTATE
Federal Housing Authority on 26th August 2025 commissioned the newly completed 1st Avenue and 13 Crescent Roads in its Apo/Guzape Estate, Abuja. The event was attended by the Managing Director/Chief Executive, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, alongside the Executive Directors of the Authority, staff, and residents.
Prior to the construction of the roads, access was difficult, especially for homeowners and residents living along 1st Avenue and 13 Crescent Road, and property development was significantly hampered by poor accessibility. The transformation of this road reflects the mandate of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to ensure that all citizens have access to good road infrastructure.
Despite obstacles such as the rocky terrain and low finances that posed enormous challenges to the development of road infrastructure in the FHA Apo/Guzape Estate, the management, through resilience, dedication, and strategic planning, has been able to deliver on its promises.
In his address, Managing Director, Federal Housing Authority, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo commended the Executive Management for working harmoniously with him. In describing the team spirit of the EMC, he said, “One good thing is that we have to appreciate ourselves, we have worked like family. We take multilateral decisions; we don’t take unilateral decisions.”
The MD recalled the challenges management faced when they received the road project, noting that the terrain was rocky. He said, “When I saw the projects that were handed to us, I said we were going to bring down the rock no matter what.” He added that he personally monitored the road projects every day for about four months to ensure the contractors worked to meet the completion target.
According to Hon. Ojo the” 1st avenue road is about 645 meters, while the 13th crescent road is about 560 meters, and all together they are approximately about 1.205 kilometers.”
He further noted that during the period of the road construction, Management visited Apo/Guzape Estate and promised the Residents Association that the road would be completed and connected to other roads to help reduce insecurity, saying that it was an issue in the estate. He urged residents to ensure the Authority’s infrastructure is safeguarded.
Hon. Ojo also revealed that the entire estate including the houses built by the Authority in partnership with ENL contractor belongs to the Authority, and will be commissioned very soon. In his words, “This place is owned by FHA and will continue to be owned by FHA. Resident Association, you may not know that this estate is owned by FHA because it has not been commissioned. However, we will make sure that before December, we will commission this estate”.
The MD also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his Renewed Hope agenda in providing affordable housing for Nigerians. “We know the mandate Mr. President has given to us, which is not just to deliver houses, but to deliver good infrastructure and that is what we are demonstrating today”, he said.
Hon. Ojo did not fail to thank staff for their hard work and team spirit noting that he was proud of them.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Executive Director of Project Implementation, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, who chaired the commissioning committee, recounted the challenges management faced but was able to overcome. “We had to put in a lot of work for these roads to be completed,” he said. He also appreciated the contractors and engineers for their commitment throughout the project.
The Executive Directors in their various address applauded the Managing Director for his passion towards the building of the Authority and welfare of staff which he always demonstrated at the EMC meetings.
Speaking on behalf of the residents, Bitrus Samaila Ndangra (Ph.d) who stood in for the chairman of the Resident Association was full of gratitude to the Management for really restoring their hopes of easy access to their homes and enhancing the security of the neighbourhood.
The commissioning of the roads stands as a milestone in the Authority’s infrastructural development drive, as well as a testament to the dedication and expertise of its engineers and contractors.
This resonates with Management’s clear stand on not building only houses for Nigerians, but building livable and comfortable environment in its estates for the benefit of FHA allottees.
